Emma Watson Unveils Festive Lantern Packaging for Renais Gin, Championing Sustainability and Creativity
Emma Watson, renowned for her role in the “Harry Potter” series, has ventured into the spirits industry with her brother, Alex Watson, to create Renais Gin. This gin is inspired by their family’s vineyard in Chablis, France, and emphasizes sustainability by utilizing upcycled wine grapes and eco-friendly packaging.
In November 2024, Renais Gin introduced the Festive Lantern Edition, a special packaging designed by Emma Watson herself. This edition features a sleeve adorned with festive icons and colorful illustrations, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability. The packaging is designed to be upcycled into decorative hanging lanterns and tree ornaments, encouraging consumers to repurpose it creatively.
Emma Watson expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I’ve loved designing the Renais Festive Lantern Edition – it’s truly been a joy. The box not only becomes a lantern but the cut outs are Christmas decorations for the tree, or anywhere.”
The Festive Lantern Edition is available in the UK and US, priced at £65 (US$82). Additionally, Renais has unveiled a luxury glassware gift set, which includes a bottle of Renais Gin and two glasses designed to capture the gin’s aromas. The glasses feature an amber-colored stem and base, complementing the hue of the Renais bottle. This set is available for pre-order at £90 (US$114).
Earlier in November 2023, Renais released the Artwork Edition, another limited edition featuring packaging designed, painted, and inscribed by Emma Watson. This edition includes stickers of her illustrations, allowing consumers to personalize their bottles. The Artwork Edition was available on the Renais website for £60 (US$75).
Renais Gin is crafted using upcycled pressed grapes from the Watson family’s vineyard and distilled with French botanicals, including juniper berries, cubeb berries, Kimmeridgian stone, acacia honey, linden flower, lemon peel, whole lime slices, angelica root, rock salt, and coriander seed. The gin is produced at a solar-powered distillery in England, and its packaging is made from compostable, 100% mycelium-based materials, underscoring the brand’s dedication to sustainability.
The Watson siblings’ commitment to sustainability is evident in their innovative packaging designs and the use of eco-friendly materials. By creating upcyclable packaging and utilizing sustainable production methods, Renais Gin offers consumers a premium product that aligns with environmentally conscious values.
In summary, Emma Watson’s involvement in designing festive and artistic packaging for Renais Gin highlights the brand’s dedication to sustainability and creativity. These limited editions not only provide a unique aesthetic appeal but also encourage consumers to engage in eco-friendly practices by repurposing the packaging, making Renais Gin a distinctive choice for the holiday season.
