Okay, well, I THOUGHT I posted a topic about the burqua ban a few days ago, but apparently it didn't go through *grumbles*. Anyway, France is one step closer to passing the burqua ban law, which would prohibit women from wearing a burqua in public, and might give men fines if it seems like he's making a woman wear one. (Or something like that, I read the article a while ago and can't remember all the specifics). ANYway, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I understand that the burqua is seen as a religious clothing item, and some women do actually want to wear it. I also understand that it can be seen as a part of radical Islam and the oppression to women. I also understand the safety issues related to having a burqua on, especially while driving, and having passport photos taken, etc. I think talking to the women in this is the most important thing of all, because it affects them directly. So I'd like to know your opinions on the burqua ban and all of that good stuff!

So in an attempt to start conversation and discussion (boy, do I love a good discussion), there has been much controversy recently about a group of seven year old girls dancing to the song "single ladies" in scantily clad costumes:

I personally believe that kids are being pushed every day to act older and older than they really are. I can see it even in the smallest things, from how they speak to what they are wearing. Remember those stretchy pants that little kids wear? Usually little girls...and they come in all different types of colors and prints. Like leggings but not? Yeah, those. Sorry if you don't know what I'm talking about. Anyhoo, I can see those being replaced with Uggs, mini-skirts, etc etc etc. Cell phone use has become more commonplace at a younger age. Who needs a cellphone at seven??????? Jeeeeeez.

Anyway, what do you think about the kids? I'm sure they have talent, but do you think the costumes/dancing is okay? Is one ok but not the other? Do you wholeheartedly disagree with the whole ordeal?

Thoughts, opinions, comments!

Well, I've seen it. If you haven't seen it, then you totally should because it's great! The only downside is that I don't think the cast has microphones and so at times the music is louder than the singer. Which is annoying but whatever. And the guy who plays voldemort is from a town right near mine! The next town over actually, which I think is great. Anyway, I just wanted to get your thoughts on it. Have you seen it? Do you want to? If you have seen it, what did you think? It just makes me so happy every time I watch because it's so silly. smilie_happy_298.gif
